Hi again everyone. It’s me Logan. You might remember me from such posts as: Why Some People Hate Me, and Why I’m OK With It!.

I’m here to talk to you today about another reason why you might experience some negative vibes from other folks. If you live in any area of the world that gets snowy and cold weather for a couple months or more, you’ve probably experienced it. It’s called wintertime stress.

Wintertime Stress

The winter months can be stressful on people. They don’t get outside much due to the cold. And when they can get outside, they’re so bundled up, hardly any sunlight touches their skin. Top that off with the fact that the total amount of hours that we get to enjoy any sunlight is severely limited (thanks rotating earth axis!).

Most people can deal with this for the first few weeks, or even a couple of months. But after a while it begins to take a mental toll on just about everyone.

In extreme cases, some folks are even diagnosed with something called S.A.D – Seasonally Affected Disorder. S.A.D. a form of seasonal depression that is caused by limited exposure to natural sunlight.

[editor's note -taking a daily Vitamin D supplement and exposing yourself to a full spectrum light every day during the winter could be very helpful if you suffer from S.A.D - Colin]

As the mental toll keeps accumulating, people can start to get grumpy, and often times you end up taking the brunt of it.

What Can You Do?

Do what I do, hide out at home for a while, away from all the stressed out folks. I watch funny TV shows to make me laugh. I surf the internet for funny news, hilarious videos, and jokes. I read jokes in magazines and also my joke books.

If you do need to head out of the protective shelter of your home. Try to arrange it so that you can at least hang around some funny, positive people while your out. Trust me, it’ll make a huge difference.

It’s Almost Over

For those of you that live in the Northern Hemisphere of planet earth. There is hope. Winter will be winding down soon. It won’t be long now. You just need to hang in there a bit longer.

Did you know that your thoughts and feelings can impact the food you eat? Taking a moment to love and appreciate your food can improve how it reacts with, and affects your body.

Before I talk about how our thoughts and feelings affect our food, I want to introduce you to Dr. Masaru Emoto. I believe his research into water also applies to the food we eat.

Dr. Emota has spent his life studying (and proving) how words, thoughts, and emotions affect the energetic structure of water. He would even take pictures of the results. I invite you to check out some of the pictures he has taken or some of his books to learn more.

Basically, what Dr. Emoto discovered is that when we send negative thoughts and emotions toward water, the energetic structure of the water changes into something that looks very negative. Conversely, when we send positive thoughts and emotions toward water, the energetic structure changes into something very beautiful.

Dr. Emoto even used this approach to clean up several polluted bodies of water simply by getting large groups of people to send loving and grateful thoughts to the water.

Considering that our bodies are made up of about 70% water. You might want to monitor what messages you are sending with your thoughts, words, and feelings. When you love and appreciate yourself and the water you consume, it will have a direct positive impact on the energy of the water in your body.

(to learn more about Dr. Masaru Emoto, check out this great Q&A session with him.)

Love Your Food

I believe Dr. Emoto’s research into how our thoughts affect water also applies to the food we eat. Everything in this Universe is made up of energy. So the same principles that apply to water, also apply to the food we eat.

What do you think and feel while you eat?

Do you worry about your food making you fat?

Do you feel guilty about sneaking that extra cookie?

Do you worry that you’re going to get heartburn?

Do you fear that that slice of cheese is going to clog up your arteries and give you a heart-attack?

All of these types of thoughts affect the energy of your food in a negative way. In fact, those very thoughts could end up becoming self-fulfilling as the negative energy of the food starts interacting with the energy of your body.

You can change how your food affects your body by changing the energy of the food you eat into something more positive. Take a moment before you chow down your next meal or snack to send a little love to it and thank it for giving of itself to nourish you. This one little act will help your food to nourish your body and energy in a much more positive way.

I’m not saying that this approach is a free ticket to go eat whatever you want without consequence. I don’t think there has been enough research on the subject yet for me to be able to say that with absolute confidence. But I am sure that if you focus on positive thoughts and emotions about what you’re eating, it will cause less problems for you and benefit you a lot more.

Maybe there really is something to the idea of “saying grace” before your meal.

I encourage you to give it a try for the next week or two and see how you feel.

There are 24 hours a day. For many of us, that’s at least ten fewer than we’d like. In a society where we’re working more, lunching at our desks, and sleeping less, managing our time effectively has never been more important. But just how can you achieve that?

Sleep!

Ok, so you might not get a lot of your task list completed while snoozing, but resting is essential to make sure you are working at your optimum the next day. 6 to 8 hours (depending on the individual of course) will pay itself back by your increased efficiency, concentration, and focus the next day. Working on next o no sleep (or on poor quality sleep) means you end up spending longer on each task and completing it to a poorer standard. This often means you have to revisit and do that task again!

Take Breaks

For much the same reason that sleep is so critical, so are breaks. It’s vital to take a break to keep yourself refreshed and to renew your focus on the task. Take at least a short lunch break and keep yourself hydrated.

Goals, goals, goals…

NLP training providers advise over and over again, the importance of establishing your goals and working towards them. This is critical. You need to have a firm idea (write it down if you need to) of what you want to achieve each day and how you will go about it. Give yourself a realistic idea of what you can achieve and work with those goals in mind.

Eradicate the distractions

That report you have to write is going to come along much slower if your emails are continually pinging and you’re running a couple of Facebook chat sessions too! Close off any unnecessary distractions including phones, televisions, and so on, in order to get what must be done, done!

Merge Tasks

Not always the easiest thing to do, but try to incorporate certain tasks into others where possible. If you have an appointment at one end of town on a certain day and then another appointment in a similar area a couple of days later, try to move them to the same day. Seemingly small things like this can make a world of difference!

Stay Organized

Half the battle for the busiest of us is keeping on top of what we have to do. Half an hour spent working out what you should be doing is half an hour wasted during which you could have been doing it. Sticking to organised diaries has real benefits. Though it might require some time investment getting them started, it will pay dividends in the end.

Everybody finds ways to get the most from their time that suit them personally, but these are some of the basics that really shouldn’t be overlooked for the optimum usage of your time.

This is the second post in a series on how to change your life. If you want to start at the beginning of the series, head on over to: How To Change Your Life: Part 1 – Become Clear.

If you followed the instructions in the last post in this series, you are already clear about what you want your life to be like. Now you’re ready for the next step…

Getting your thoughts and feelings aligned with what you want to create.

Why You Need To Have Your Thoughts And Feelings Aligned With Your Goals

First, Your Thoughts And Feelings Affect Your Actions

How much effort do you think you will make toward achieving a goal if you don’t believe you can realistically achieve it? You will probably not even bother starting, or else you will give up at the first sign of difficulty. Why make the effort if it’s really not possible right?

However, if you really believe that your goals can become reality, your motivation to take action and succeed will skyrocket.

By training your mind, you can actually start believing in yourself and your ability to achieve your goals. When this happens, your motivation to take action and persevere until your goals become reality will skyrocket.

Second, Your Thoughts And Feelings Help Program Your Subconscious Mind

Your subconscious mind likes consistency. It will do everything it can to keep things in your life the same.

Over the years, you may have noticed repeated scenarios in your life. Your income will generally stay the same, you often end up having similar relationship experiences, you experience the same types of failures over and over again. This is your subconscious mind at work.

If things in your life ever start varying from the norm, your subconscious brain can’t tolerate it. It will actually work against your best efforts to make positive changes in your life. This is why smokers have a hard time quitting, people who lose weight usually gain it all back, and why lottery winners often end up just as broke as they were before winning within a few years.

Thankfully, this can also be used to your advantage. Your subconscious mind can’t tell the difference between something that is real and something that is imagined. So if you spend enough time imagining a new reality for yourself, your subconscious will begin to believe that this imagined reality is the way things are actually supposed to be. It will actually aid you in making your imagined reality come true.

Third, Your Thoughts and Feelings Are What Activate The Law of Attraction

The law of attraction states that like attracts like, but what exactly does this have to do with your thoughts and feelings?

The images your hold in your mind will attract similar images into your reality. So if you regularly hold mental images of you having achieved your goals, the law of attraction will kick in and start working to make those mental images come true.

The feelings you have are also have an attraction force to them. In fact, many people argue that your feelings have much more attraction power than mental images.

If you feel successful, you will tend to attract more success into your life. If you feel wealthy, you will tend to attract more wealth. If you feel worried, you will tend to attract more situations that will cause you to worry.

How To Get Your Thoughts And Feelings Aligned With Your Goals

Visualization

The most effective way to get your thoughts and feelings aligned with your goals is to use visualization.

Spend time every day imagining that your goal(s) are already a reality in your life. Use a first person perspective (looking through your own eyes) so it’s like you are right there experiencing everything first hand.

What is going on around you?

What does your life look like?

Who is there with you?

Imagine those people congratulating you.

Imagine yourself celebrating your success with your friends and loved ones.

Make it all as detailed as possible so that it not only looks real, but it feels real too. These feelings can really ramp up your attraction power.

Feel grateful for your success.

Feel excited about your success.

Feel grateful for how easy it was to achieve.

If your goal is related to relationships, enjoy the new feelings of friendship or love.

If your goal is related to money, enjoy the feelings of being wealthy and being able to afford whatever you want to buy.

Index Cards

Write down each goal you have on a separate index card.

Read through these cards several times a day to reinforce your visualizations. Reading through them will tend to bring up the images and feelings that you use during your visualizations. This will help to further reinforce the mental reprogramming that you’re doing.

Make it a Daily Practice

It typically takes about 30 days to start shifting the thought processes of your subconscious mind. This is why it’s important to make sure that you visualize for 20 minutes every day, for at least 30 days straight.

If you ever miss a day, you will need to start your count over.

After that, it’s good a good idea to keep up the daily habit as it will continue to reinforce your mind with images of your success. Not only will it will help you to keep focused and motivated as you take action, but it will also continue to activate the law of attraction in your favor.

I want to wish you all a wonderful holiday season.

During this time of year, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everything. Remember to take some time to slow down and connect with what’s truly important during this season – spending time with loved ones and counting the many blessings and accomplishments of the past year.

Spending time with loved ones will rejuvenate your spirit.

Recounting how you have been blessed and what you’ve accomplished over the past year will help you to focus on what went right this year instead of what went wrong. Let go of the disappointments and spend some time celebrating the victories and blessings instead.

And as the new year approaches. Now is a good time to start setting new goals for 2010. Plan on making 2010 the best year of your life so far!

Happy Holidays!
